Now as due to the wet conditions please be aware that the gates will be closed and barrows will be required to get your gear to pegs further down the lake.

As of the 1st November 2008 untill the 1st March 2009 all 24 hour tickets will be £10 per night maximum of 4 rods, please note that 3 or more rods will require a second rod licence.

As you can see by the results one or two better sized fish appearing. Both 20's in this report coming from deep water, well done to both Calam and Ian.

First of all we would like to aplogise for the lack of catch reports, but we have been having a lot of trouble with the internet connection, so it will look great, but the report does run from June 1st. Here goes.

Various stockies between 5lb and 7lb have come from various pegs, but not mentioned in this catch report. As you can see the 20lbers are not getting caught, not like they were before the flooding last year, even though we did not loose any fish that size, and they were coming out like no tomorrow. They are still there to be seen, but hey are giving the angler a difficult time.
It appears that the smaller fish are moving in on the bait before the larger fish, may be worth presenting your hook baits slightly away from your baited area, as a tactic to try and land the better quality fish.

The catch rate has improved over May, but might slow down in June due to spawning. The baits catching at the moment are artificial sweetcorn, white pop ups, and of course Rainbow Lake own boillies.

Several of the new stock fish introduced at Easter between weights of 3lb 8oz to 5lb have shown a good weight increase, with the largest just recorded over 6lb, they are lovely looking heavy scalled fish that make a great catch.

Although we very busy over the bank holiday weekend, we would like to take this oppertunity to thank all our customers for the responsible behaviour shown around the lake and to other visitors. This type of attitude makes Rainbow Lake the fantastic place it is.

What a great mixture of commons and mirrors caught, things are hotting up just like the weather.

Weather permitting zig rigs and floating baits are taking fish on the sunny warmer spells. It seems that the fish are all on the move now for food. Good Luck

Peg 1 produced a 12lb 8oz, a 10lb 8oz. and a PB for Roy Holland a 20lb 7oz that also gets him a 20lb plus hoody, well done to Roy. Judging by other anglers this fish was put in the lake 4 years ago at 4lb to 5lb

Fish well for the time of year and weather permitting all the gates will be open for Easter.
Please note we are now selling frozen boillies prepared specially for Rainbow Lake by Nuitrabaits in 12 x 16 barrels, 12 -14-16 mm. at £5 per half kilo. Just ask John.
Also we sell various pellets trout, carp and hallibut at £1.25 per Kilo. Again just ask.

Most of these fish have been caught in the last 10 days since the weather has warmed up. The heavy rainfall during January was kept at bay and the pegs remained open and the fish were fine.
Boillies over a bed of maggots seems to be the preffered method at the moment.

Happy New Year lets hope that the deveastating floods that affected the fishing during the second half of 2007 will just be a distant memory for 2008. Having said that the gates are locked at the moment due to water logged car tracks around the lake, please bring your barrow till the ground dries up a bit more.

New things for 2008 down at Rainbow is the ongoing improvements, like the acsess for car parking around and at the ends of the lake.

We are also introducing 30 x 5lb zip and fully scaled mirrors that will be held in our stock pond till they reach 12 to 15lb, our goal is make this an annual stocking programme, to enable us to introduce fish that will not only make great weights, but to give you fantastic looking fish to aim for.

Can we just apologise for the lack of updates, this has been due to problems with the web site, but we now seem to have this more under control, and would like to wish all our customers all the best for Christmas and a great New Year.
For the more hardy of you all here is the catch report, not much but not too bad as the weather has taken its toll once more along with a few missed chances.

Also Congratulations to Tom Clarke who has won a 24 hour one year pass for the biggest fish that weighted 26lb 8oz mirror. The biggest fish caught annually will be awared a 24 hour one year pass, not to be sniffed at, along with the free hoodies for 20lb, 25lb and 30lb for landing your first fish over these weights.
